SEO Checker Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the SEO Checker browser extension and the seochecker.io website handle, why, and what your choices are. The short version: the extension crawls websites from your own computer and keeps its results there. The only feature that sends audit data to us is the AI audit summary, and you can turn it off.

Who we are

SEO Checker is made by Axeman Technology Solutions LLP, 502 B Anisha Apartments, Yari Road, Versova, Mumbai 400061, Maharashtra, India ("we", "us"), the company behind Keywords Everywhere. We are the data controller for the processing described in this policy. You can reach us at help@seochecker.io.

This policy covers the SEO Checker extension for Chrome and Microsoft Edge, the hosted services the extension calls at seochecker.io, and the seochecker.io website. Together we call these the "Services".

The extension runs on your computer

When you start a crawl, the extension fetches the pages, images, scripts and stylesheets of the site you entered directly from your browser, analyses them on your computer, and stores the results in your browser. We do not receive the pages you crawl, the results of the checks, the sites you audit or your crawl settings, with the one exception of the AI audit summary described below.

The following data stays in your browser's local storage and never reaches us:

• Your crawl settings, including any URL lists, include and exclude patterns, brand name and logo for printed reports, and per-domain crawl profiles.
• Your last 20 audit reports, kept so you can reopen and compare them. You can delete them from the extension's home screen or by turning off "Keep the last 20 reports in the extension".
• A Google Chrome UX Report API key, if you enter one. It is used only to request Core Web Vitals for the crawled site directly from Google's API.
• HTTP basic authentication credentials, if you enter them for a protected site. They are held in memory for the current crawl only, are sent only to the host name you entered and only over HTTPS unless you entered an http:// address, and are never written to storage, to exported files or to report history.

Exported report files and printed PDF reports contain the audit results and are created on your computer; sharing them is your choice.

The AI audit summary

After a crawl, the dashboard can show a short written assessment of the site. To produce it, the extension sends a compact digest of the audit results to our server at seochecker.io. This is the only feature of the extension that sends audit data to us.

What the digest contains

• The host name and start URL of the crawled site, the number of URLs and pages crawled, and the number of broken URLs.
• The overall score and the score of each category.
• The failing checks: the check name and category, how many pages were tested and failed, and for each failing check up to a few example URLs with the value that caused the failure, for example a page title that is too long.
• The language the extension runs in, so the summary comes back in that language.

The digest does not contain page content, your settings, credentials, API keys or anything about you personally beyond the technical data described next. It is limited to about 14 KB, so long lists are shortened before sending.

Technical data we process with it

• An install identifier: a random value the extension generates the first time the summary is used and stores in your browser. It is not linked to an account or to your identity. We use it to apply per-installation usage limits.
• Your IP address, which our server sees like any web server does. We use it to apply per-address usage limits and to protect the service from abuse.

How the summary is written

Our server forwards the digest to OpenAI, which generates the text with one of its language models. OpenAI processes the digest on our behalf under its API data processing terms, which do not permit it to use API data to train its models. The digest and the resulting summary are not linked to you by OpenAI.

How long we keep it

Our server keeps a copy of each generated summary, keyed by a hash of the digest, for up to 24 hours so that a repeated crawl of an unchanged site is answered from that copy instead of a new request. Usage counters are kept for the hour or day they belong to and are then discarded. We do not build a history of the sites you audit.

Turning it off

The AI audit summary is on by default. You can turn it off at any time under Integrations in the extension's settings. When it is off, nothing is sent to us. We recommend turning it off when you audit internal sites, local addresses or sites behind a login.

Other requests the extension makes to us

• When you open the extension, it loads its typeface and small notice panels from seochecker.io. Like any web request, these send your IP address and browser user agent to our server, where they appear in ordinary server logs. They carry no information about your crawls.
• When the extension is first installed, it opens a welcome page on seochecker.io that includes the extension version, its language and your browser type in the address, so the page can show the right instructions.
• Before writing an AI summary, the extension asks our server whether the feature is currently enabled.

Requests the extension makes to other sites

• The sites you crawl receive the extension's requests from your IP address. The requests identify themselves with a header naming SEO Checker and its version, and honour the crawl settings you choose. You are responsible for only crawling sites you are allowed to crawl; see our terms of use.
• If you enter a Chrome UX Report API key, the extension sends the crawled site's origin and your key to Google's API and shows the result. Google's privacy policy applies to that request.

The website

When you visit seochecker.io, our web server records the usual log data: IP address, browser user agent, the pages requested, the referring page and the time of the request. We use these logs to keep the site running and secure. They are kept for 90 days.

To understand how many people visit and which pages they read, the website uses Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, hosted for us at freewebsiteanalytics.net. It does not use cookies, does not store your IP address and does not track you across other sites. It records the page viewed, the referring site, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and country, in aggregate.

The website also loads typefaces from Google Fonts and, if you play the demo video, an embedded YouTube player. Both send your IP address to Google, which processes it under its own privacy policy.

The website has no user accounts and no forms that collect personal data. If you email us, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to answer you and handle any follow-up.

Why we process this data

Where data protection law such as the GDPR applies, our legal bases are:

• Performance of our agreement with you: to provide the extension and the AI audit summary you asked for.
• Our legitimate interests: to keep the Services secure and available, to prevent abuse of the hosted summary service, and to understand how the website is used through cookieless, aggregate analytics.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. We share data only with the service providers named in this policy, OpenAI for the AI summary, the Umami analytics host for aggregate website statistics, Google for fonts, video and the optional CrUX lookups, and our hosting provider, which stores our server data in the United States. We may also disclose data when the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of users or the public.

Some of these providers are located outside the country you live in. Where required, transfers are covered by standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable form, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because the extension keeps its data in your browser and the summary service keeps no lasting record tied to you, in most cases there is little we hold; the most direct way to remove data is to clear the extension's storage or uninstall it. If you are a California resident, the rights above include the right to know, to delete and to non-discrimination. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law.

Security

All traffic between the extension, the website and our servers uses HTTPS. The summary service authenticates requests with signed tokens, applies usage limits per address, per installation and per audited site, and validates every digest before processing it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Services are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when the Services change. The date at the top shows the current version, and material changes will be noted on our news page. Continued use of the Services after a change means you accept the updated policy.
